Three Things

I am loving most

about the Olympics

1.  so many of the Olympians praising God

2.  the Find Your Greatness campaign by Nike
**these commercials have actually brought tears to my eyes**

3.  pressing the "pause" button **thank you DVR** and taking night swims with Handsome Husband

I will miss the Olympic events...and background stories of the athletes...and even the commercials.  At least I will still have night swims with HH :)

Delaware Days...and FIT TIP (#166)

Spent time **last week** in this Delaware beach town
and fell in love. Picture perfect, right? We will be back!!!

Had a blast with my cute and cuddly Delaware dudes
and their parents!!!

We got to hang out at an awesome beach house and play at a private beach...
where the sand was soft and white, the water was delightfully warm, and the sunshine was wonderfully mild.
Perfect. Beach. Experience.
We also rode bikes, played chase (thanks for the great exercise, Gavin!), watched the Olympics, went to church, ate yummy food, etc. etc.

One fun/exciting side note: on Sunday, hanging out with some of Rachel's (my daughter-in-law) awesome relatives, we were flipping channels between the Olympics and the PGA tournament...which one of Rachel's brothers **who was with us** brother-in-law ended up winning! We were jumping up and down and high-fiving in celebration of his victory.

So grateful for fun Delaware Days with the J. Brown Crew. Love you!!!

Take it Outside...and FIT TIP (#165)

I am an advocate of eating outside whenever possible,
weather permitting.

And it doesn't always have to be
fancy
to be enjoyed.

Proof:  Emerson enjoying an impromptu poolside meal, in between swims, while visiting us last week.

Thank Green for No Gray...and FIT TIP (#164)

I kind of love spinach.  I pretty much consume it on a daily basis.  Yesterday I ran out and so...

I dashed to the market and grabbed 2 large containers of different varieties and as I proceeded to checkout
a kind lady grabbed my arm and asked what I was planning on doing with "all that spinach".  Ummm, eat it?

Yes, I explained that I throw a large handful (or 2) into my breakfast smoothies.  I also use it as a "base" for fun dinner salads, and pile it on most sandwiches...generously.  Popeye's got nothing on me.

That's when she made a very interesting comment...she very matter-of-factly told me that's why I don't have any gray hair.  Spinach consumption.  You said it lady...that's it :)

A Little or a Lot...and FIT TIP (#163)

Some days I like a little bit of chocolate...and some days I like a lot!
Admit it...you want a little  **or a lot**  chocolate right now!

Spell it Out...and FIT TIP (#162)

We (HH and I) believe in love notes.
One day, while having a decorating convo with HH (Handsome Husband) I mentioned that I wanted a chalkboard...and I had the perfect frame and the perfect spot **a small hallway off the kitchen** for it to hang.  I loved the idea of having a spot for us to leave love notes for each other.

The next thing I knew, HH **which also stands for Handy Husband** had not only transformed my frame into a blackboard, but also left the first note. **don't you love his handwriting?**

It's much bigger than it appears above...and there's the perfect notch on the top of the frame for chalk.

Love, love, love notes!

FIT TIP (#162): Good **and cheap**  Medicine

A Bit Nerdy is Attractive...and FIT TIP (#161)

Have I mentioned that HH (Handsome Husband) is a tad bit nerdy?
Well, he is **an intelligent engineer, after all**
and I find it so attractive.

He does not dress or act nerdy.  Oh no...that wouldn't do!
It's more like this:

While we were getting ready to exercise the other day
I spied him holding up a new workout t-shirt...
first the front and then the back.

Me:  Whatcha doing sweetie?
HH:  Trying to figure out the orientation of this shirt.
Me (with a huge grin on my face): You mean figuring which is the front?
HH:  Yes, I guess you could say it that way.

I love the way he says things...and he loves that I'm
easily entertained :)

A match made in heaven...no doubt about it!

Confessions of a Newlywed...and FIT TIP (#160)

I am a newlywed
and I confess:

--I love that HH (Handsome Husband) makes sure my car is clean & gassed up every week. ** I always make sure to thank him properly!**

--I don't believe in hand-holding while exercising, but I highly endorse it during cool down...with a lake nearby and while the sun is setting.

--I now go to car shows (with HH)...and I kind of love them.  It all started with Barrett Jackson Scottsdale..wow!  **and yes, we hold hands while strolling around, ooh-ing and ahh-ing**

--I  have introduced HH to "Skinny Cow" ice cream treats...and we indulge several times a week, while we wait for the hot tub to heat up...don't judge.  **Oh yeah, and Circle K cinnamon bears**

--I've never been a fan of big dogs in the house.  I now have one (he's been with HH for 12 years) and it's not that bad.  He's a really sweet and well-behaved black lab, and he really likes me.

--I love when I catch HH "checking me out".  I have never felt so loved. cherished and adored.  Sorry for the sappiness, but I feel so blessed to be sharing life with such a wonderful **and super fun**  man.

FIT TIP (#160): Act More Energetic
Studies show that even an artificially induced smile brings about happier emotions. Advice from every quarter, ancient and contemporary, backs up the observation that TO CHANGE OUR FEELINGS, WE SHOULD CHANGE OUR ACTIONS.
