Limits...and FIT TIP (#176)

Limits, limits everywhere...
speed limits, age limits, height limits, time limits, weight limits,
occupancy limits, luggage limits, etc.

Thank heavens, there are no prayer limits.

I pray.
I have never prayed as hard as I did 11 days ago.

My son-in-law is tough.  He is strong,
physically, mentally and spiritually.
So, when I received a heart-wrenching phone call
from him, I knew it wasn't good.
He told me that Knox was on his way to the hospital.
He couldn't tell me that he was okay.

**Knox, the day he was released from hospital, eyes were still
red, puffy, swollen w/surface scratches**

Husband & I immediately started praying.
I called my mom.  She prays...
powerfully.
And my kids and siblings.
Word spread quickly through our extended family.
Prayers were offered.
Knox fought...for his life, and won.

There is a lot more to the story.
But, the bottom line:
Knox is once again healthy.

Right now I am praying for (son) Jordan
and his awesome little family, and everyone
in the path of Hurricane Sandy.
Won't you join me?

On a different **limit** note:
I think I've hit my limit in a few areas, and I don't think I'm the only one.
Blogs--I did a major purge on my Google Reader and boy, does it feel good.  Now I only follow blogs that I find uplifting, inspiring, entertaining, and/or have pics and stories of those I love. Phew!
Facebook--it just doesn't interest me like it once did.  Or did it really ever?  I took the lead from someone I admire, and kept my number of friends to a reasonable limit.  But still, the feed gets so clogged up with...you know.  It's just not doing it for me.  I stay connected to my kids, siblings, close friends and church friends in real life.  I find these real life relationships (and Handsome Husband) so fulfilling!  I admit, I mostly follow political pages etc, on FB these days.
Pinterest--I don't do it.  I'm not knocking it...I see others gleaning great ideas from it. I hear it's addictive :)
Whenever I think about it...I change my mind!
Instagram--I like it because it's fast and easy and I only follow people I'm close to...so each entry has my interest. But, sometimes I go a few days without even checking or posting.

FIT TIP (#176): Pray
Numerous scientific studies have evaluated the therapeutic effects of prayer.  The research has shown that people who pray regularly are less likely to become ill and that when they do, they tend to recover faster.
Not only does prayer have healing effects for the people who pray, it also benefits those who are prayed for by others.

I didn't need a study to state the obvious...but it is interesting, huh?

To Carve or Not to Carve

That is the question.

With so many cute & fun & creative options

it has become my preference

to **GASP** not carve!

I now carve only

at carving parties.
And maybe sometimes I
even win a prize!

Now, if my kidlets were around, I would carve
with them...for them.

I love the above option.
Notice the key with tassel.

Have you carved yet?
Are you going to?

'Tis Nearly Halloween...and FIT TIP (#175)

How about creating a festive "greeter" for
all who dare enter...

and maybe some friendly ghosts
to add a soft & spooky glow
come nightfall.

What little munchkin wouldn't love
to fashion a few friendly
creepy crawlers...

or construct a seasonal,
tasty landscape?

Seriously, have you seen a garden
gnome this cute?  Ever?

FIT TIP (#175):  Lap 'Em!

A Few Fall Days...and FIT TIP (#174)

A few fall days
spent in the mountains
experiencing
"sweater weather"...
glorious!

We discovered some
off-the-beaten-path
hiking "trails"
and I thought of Robert Frost.
I adore these words:

I heard them first
many, many years ago.
Say them out loud
and
make sure to really pause
at the commas.

FIT TIP (#174): Up Your Endurance
Want to extend your cardio session?  People who took 500 mg of quercetin twice a day for a week were able to bicycle 13% longer than the placebo group, a University of South Carolina study found.  Overall, research shows that quercetin can improve your endurance capacity by about 3%.

I've never tried it...but, I'm now curious.

Natural Sources:  Parsley, grapefruit, onions, apples

Ahh Ahh Autumn...and FIT TIP (#173)

Dear Mother Nature,
As you know, Autumn is almost 2 weeks old.  Any chance of daytime temperatures cooling off a bit, here in the valley of the sun?  Oh, and colored leaves?  Please and Thank you!

P.S.  Early morning and late evening temps are divine!

On a slightly different note:
tomorrow is the start of a hiking/biking-
in-the-mountains kind of weekend!

And of course...General Conference.
Can hardly wait!

Alfresco Autumn...and FIT TIP (#172)

Along with Autumn,
alfresco dining season has finally arrived

here in the Valley of the Sun.

While many elsewhere, are focusing on sweaters
and soups

HH and I are looking forward
to "taking" our evening meals
out by the pool, under the stars.

Below are some of the dining delights
I have in mind
for upcoming Autumn evenings.

Note to Self...and FIT TIP (#171)

Always...as in Every Single Time
take a quick rear view glance in the mirror before exiting a public restroom

to insure the back of skirt is where it should be!

Yes, today I failed to do so!  Although my experience wasn't quite as drastic as the above image...
it was not good.

Catastrophe was averted, because I realized things weren't quite right before "going public".

Phew!

Love and Adoration...and FIT TIP (#170)

I simply love and adore
these 7...
and have given each set a nickname.

My Utah/Euro Brownies
Chloe and Tru

My Little Delaware Dudes
Gavin and Holden

 My Little Texans
Stone, Emerson and Knox

I love that one of the first songs they learn
to sing is
I Am A Child Of God.

I love that they are learning to offer
blessings of thanks before
they eat.

I love that they are learning to
kneel at their beds
to pray to their Heavenly Father.

I love that they are encouraged in
their creativity.

I love that they each have a hands-on daddy
who takes time to teach them
all kinds of awesome things...

and that each has a beautiful mommy
to teach and nurture them each and every day...
and to encourage them in their
talents and dreams.
