Thank Green for No Gray...and FIT TIP (#164)

I kind of love spinach.  I pretty much consume it on a daily basis.  Yesterday I ran out and so...

I dashed to the market and grabbed 2 large containers of different varieties and as I proceeded to checkout
a kind lady grabbed my arm and asked what I was planning on doing with "all that spinach".  Ummm, eat it?

Yes, I explained that I throw a large handful (or 2) into my breakfast smoothies.  I also use it as a "base" for fun dinner salads, and pile it on most sandwiches...generously.  Popeye's got nothing on me.

That's when she made a very interesting comment...she very matter-of-factly told me that's why I don't have any gray hair.  Spinach consumption.  You said it lady...that's it :)

Admit it...you want a little  **or a lot**  chocolate right now!

Spell it Out...and FIT TIP (#162)

We (HH and I) believe in love notes.
One day, while having a decorating convo with HH (Handsome Husband) I mentioned that I wanted a chalkboard...and I had the perfect frame and the perfect spot **a small hallway off the kitchen** for it to hang.  I loved the idea of having a spot for us to leave love notes for each other.

The next thing I knew, HH **which also stands for Handy Husband** had not only transformed my frame into a blackboard, but also left the first note. **don't you love his handwriting?**

It's much bigger than it appears above...and there's the perfect notch on the top of the frame for chalk.

Love, love, love notes!

FIT TIP (#162): Good **and cheap**  Medicine

A Bit Nerdy is Attractive...and FIT TIP (#161)

Have I mentioned that HH (Handsome Husband) is a tad bit nerdy?
Well, he is **an intelligent engineer, after all**
and I find it so attractive.

He does not dress or act nerdy.  Oh no...that wouldn't do!
It's more like this:

While we were getting ready to exercise the other day
I spied him holding up a new workout t-shirt...
first the front and then the back.

Me:  Whatcha doing sweetie?
HH:  Trying to figure out the orientation of this shirt.
Me (with a huge grin on my face): You mean figuring which is the front?
HH:  Yes, I guess you could say it that way.

I love the way he says things...and he loves that I'm
easily entertained :)

A match made in heaven...no doubt about it!

Confessions of a Newlywed...and FIT TIP (#160)

I am a newlywed
and I confess:

--I love that HH (Handsome Husband) makes sure my car is clean & gassed up every week. ** I always make sure to thank him properly!**

--I don't believe in hand-holding while exercising, but I highly endorse it during cool down...with a lake nearby and while the sun is setting.

--I now go to car shows (with HH)...and I kind of love them.  It all started with Barrett Jackson Scottsdale..wow!  **and yes, we hold hands while strolling around, ooh-ing and ahh-ing**

--I  have introduced HH to "Skinny Cow" ice cream treats...and we indulge several times a week, while we wait for the hot tub to heat up...don't judge.  **Oh yeah, and Circle K cinnamon bears**

--I've never been a fan of big dogs in the house.  I now have one (he's been with HH for 12 years) and it's not that bad.  He's a really sweet and well-behaved black lab, and he really likes me.

--I love when I catch HH "checking me out".  I have never felt so loved. cherished and adored.  Sorry for the sappiness, but I feel so blessed to be sharing life with such a wonderful **and super fun**  man.

FIT TIP (#160): Act More Energetic
Studies show that even an artificially induced smile brings about happier emotions. Advice from every quarter, ancient and contemporary, backs up the observation that TO CHANGE OUR FEELINGS, WE SHOULD CHANGE OUR ACTIONS.

Something Similar...and FIT TIP (#159)

I don't consider myself a copycat, BUTI often see or hear an idea that I am inspired and/or motivated by.

Sometimes I just enjoy and appreciate the "idea".
Sometimes I take the "idea" and tweak it and make it my own.

I love the above image. I really doubt I will be throwing a dinner party on a trailer in a field...but I am entertained and inspired by such creativity.

This image changed the wayI wear my "boyfriend jeans".
With items from my closet I was able to semi-copy the bottom image.
I don't have a polka-dot sweater **yet** so grabbed a fun substitute,
lots of gold bracelets (love)
and similar pumps, blouse, jacket and purse.

I have a rustic cake standand you can bet I will be frosting and topping a cake in a comparable fashion in the near future. I find the simplicity so appealing.

Being knee-deep in bloomsfirst attracted me to this image. And then I realized
I should invest in a white, cotton sundress
since I already have a collection of little sweaters...
a few even with little white buttons. Tweak, tweak!

As I am now knee-deep in the whole newlywed decorating process, I have become slightly obsessed with incorporating LIVE PLANTS.

FIT TIP (159): Ahhxygen...Live Well in Your Home
According to a NASA study, household plants have been shown to:
~remove toxins from the air
~increase energy and health
~reduce noise
Place 10-15 plants around your home for optimum health benefits.

Easter Honey, Not Bunny...and FIT TIP (#158)

My Easter Honey---not bunnyhonored my request:

Please, no Easter candy to sabotage my fitness efforts.
**Skinny Cow Ice Cream products are not Easter candy**

I was presented with a pair of oh-so-comfy **and cute** running shoes
and a beautiful LIVE plant in the perfect pot.
**more on my new obsession of decorating with living plants next post**

Since I can't be hiding eggs for the grands to search out **they are celebrating in Texas, Delaware and Germany** I'll hang with my Easter Honey, not bunny. Fun, fun!

On this gorgeous Easter Sunday
I am grateful for the knowledge thatmy Savior and Redeemer lives!

HAPPY EASTER!

Have You Heard?...and FIT TIP (#157)

If you poke uncooked spaghetti
into portions of uncooked hot dogs and boil

you get "shaggy dogs"
and kids love them!!!

Sleeping in your hammock
just go easier

thanks to Grandtrunk.

The Quaker Oats man
has a nickname (Larry)

and just lost 5 pounds (his double chin)
and received a slight haircut.

FIT TIP (#157): A Foodie's Best Friend
Watercress
is being referred to as "the Cadillac of cancer-fighting foods" as studies reveal it may reduce breast cancer risk, along with providing many other nutritional benefits. These peppery-tasting greens are a natural diuretic with more iron per serving than spinach and only 4 calories per cup.
Try this: Add watercress to your favorite pasta salads...yummmm!
